According to a report from the Morris County Medical Examiner, Frehley's cause of death was blunt trauma injuries to his head due to a recent fall at his home in Morristown, New Jersey. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
Frehley, born Paul Frehley, co-founded KISS in 1973 and was known for his iconic "Spaceman" persona and makeup. After leaving the band in 1982, he went on to have a successful solo career, releasing several albums and becoming the only KISS member to crack the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 with a solo album.
In the weeks leading up to his death, Frehley had suffered a fall that caused a brain bleed, leading him to be placed on life support. His family was able to surround him with love and support in his final moments. A small, intimate memorial service was held in Frehley's hometown of the Bronx, New York, where he was born, and was attended by his KISS co-founders Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss.
