In a major announcement for film music enthusiasts, it has been confirmed that legendary composer John Williams will be scoring Steven Spielberg's next movie, a highly anticipated sci-fi adventure film set for release in 2026.
The news was revealed by Juilliard School president Damian Woetzel during a recent event celebrating Williams' illustrious career. "John Williams, who is in Los Angeles doing what he does, [...] is working with Steven Spielberg on the next movie. And that is something to be happy about," Woetzel told the audience.
This upcoming collaboration will mark the 30th time Williams and Spielberg have joined forces, with their successful partnership dating back to 1974's "The Sugarland Express." Over the decades, they have created some of the most iconic film scores, including for blockbusters like "Jaws," "Star Wars," "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," and "Jurassic Park," as well as acclaimed dramas such as "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan."
While details about the new film's plot and title remain under wraps, Universal Pictures has described it as a "new original event film" that will feature a UFO adventure. The ensemble cast includes Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson, with David Koepp, a frequent Spielberg collaborator, set to write the screenplay.
