On November 16, 2025, it was announced that legendary actors Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna will be felicitated at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The two actors will be honored for completing 50 years in the film industry, a remarkable milestone that recognizes their iconic body of work and widespread popularity.
The announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Murugan stated that the felicitation will celebrate the enduring influence of Rajinikanth and Balakrishna on Indian film culture across decades.
Rajinikanth, who recently featured in the ensemble project 'Coolie' (2025), is currently working on 'Jailer 2,' directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Balakrishna, on the other hand, is busy with 'Akhanda 2: Thaandavam' and has another upcoming project with director Gopichand Malineni.
The IFFI Goa 2025 festival is set to begin on November 20 and conclude on November 28, with the closing ceremony taking place at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. The event will showcase acclaimed international award winners and festival favorites, including films recognized at prestigious festivals like Cannes, Berlinale, Locarno, and Venice.
