The musical, previously titled 'Gun & Powder,' is scheduled to commence previews at The James Earl Jones Theatre on October 15, 2026. The official opening night is slated for November 8, 2026.
'Wanted' recounts the compelling story of twin sisters Mary and Martha Clarke in 1893 Texas. These sisters, who passed as white, navigated challenging circumstances to secure their family's future.
Ledisi's casting was revealed during a special concert event in Manhattan. The artist expressed her profound excitement about this new chapter, calling it an 'expansion' of her career rather than a 'pivot'.
'Wanted' features a creative team including book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, music by Ross Baum, direction by Stevie Walker-Webb, and choreography by Chelsey Arce. The production is brought to life by P3 Productions.
