He conveyed his apologies to fans, particularly those who had purchased tickets specifically to see him perform.
In a heartfelt statement, Williams described the decision as incredibly tough, emphasizing that a unique opportunity compelled his exit. He expressed confidence in the director Paul and the creative team, assuring that the production would be "truly magical." Williams extended his best wishes to the entire company, including Fabian Soto Pacheco, his replacement in the role of Molina.
The theatre production is scheduled to commence its run in Leicester in April, with subsequent stops planned in Bristol and Southampton. Despite this withdrawal, Williams remains actively involved in the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour as a special guest alongside his dance partner Nikita Kuzmin. The pair achieved remarkable success in the 2023 Strictly Come Dancing season, reaching the grand final.
