While Fazekas expressed a desire for Stabler's return to be "meaningful," his involvement remains unconfirmed by the network. Additionally, Mariska Hargitay has playfully hinted at a potential cameo from New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson, adding another layer of excitement for the upcoming season.

Season 28 is set to explore the boundaries of Captain Olivia Benson's character. After considering retirement in season 27, both Benson and Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola recommitted to their roles. Fazekas plans to delve into Benson's disillusionment with the system after years of service, rather than exploring her quitting. "What I want to do is see how far we can push Benson's boundaries," Fazekas stated.
