Lauryn Hill Faces New Tax Woes
12 Mar
Summary
- Singer allegedly owes $133,246 and $758,912 in back taxes.
- A spokesperson states she is complying with a repayment plan.
- This follows her 2012 tax evasion conviction and 2013 release.

The Grammy-award-winning singer Lauryn Hill is reportedly facing significant tax liabilities, with the New Jersey Division of Taxation having filed two liens against her. The total amount allegedly owed exceeds $890,000, with one lien for $133,246 and another for $758,912.02.
According to a representative, Hill is actively engaged in a repayment plan with the state to resolve these tax obligations. These liabilities apparently stem from income taxes incurred after the cancellation of a tour, which had a considerable effect on the tour's financial liquidity.
This news surfaces more than a decade after Hill's previous legal entanglements with the IRS. In 2012, she pleaded guilty to three counts of tax evasion, admitting to failing to file tax returns on approximately $1.8 million earned between 2005 and 2007. She completed her sentence and was released from federal prison in October 2013.
