Curiosity Entertainment has appointed Laurie Seidman, formerly of CBS, as its new Head of Film & Television. Seidman, who previously oversaw current programming at CBS Entertainment, will now lead Curiosity's slate development. The company, alongside its publishing subsidiary Storyteller Media, has revealed its initial page-to-screen projects.
This new strategy aims to build a business model centered on publishing and subsequent screen adaptations. John Maatta, former COO of The CW, has joined as board chair to support this venture. Storyteller Media plans to publish 20 to 30 titles annually, with each selected for its adaptation potential across film, television, and gaming.
The debut slate highlights "Goodman," a dramedy inspired by the 2008 financial crisis, "Kaidro: The Awakening," a manga franchise, and "Witches of Calabasas," a YA fantasy series. Curiosity and Storyteller focus on creating original intellectual property and providing creators with more opportunities across various platforms.
