The critically acclaimed drama series "The Last of Us" is expanding its cast for its third season, with Patrick Wilson and Jason Ritter signing on for recurring roles. Season three, anticipated in 2027, is set to center on Kaitlyn Dever's character, Abby. Wilson will portray Jerry, Abby's father, and Ritter will play Hanley, a soldier in the Washington Liberation Front.
Additional cast members Ariella Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord have been promoted to series regulars after previously recurring roles in season two. They will continue as Mel, Nora Harris, and Owen Moore, respectively. The upcoming season will also see the return of series stars Bella Ramsey, Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright. Clea DuVall and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. are also joining the ensemble.
Following the completion of season two's work and before season three's significant development begins, co-creator Neil Druckmann has transitioned his focus. He will now dedicate his complete attention to Naughty Dog and its upcoming projects, having previously co-created the HBO series. Craig Mazin will continue as the sole showrunner for season three.
