Last Ronin Movie Isn't Dead, Just Delayed

The anticipated live-action, R-rated movie adaptation of The Last Ronin comics has been temporarily shelved. However, co-creator Kevin Eastman is optimistic, suggesting the project is merely delayed rather than canceled. He indicated that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is currently in a transitional phase due to Skydance Media's recent acquisition of Paramount. Eastman expressed confidence that the movie will eventually be made, especially given the strong fan support for The Last Ronin properties and other recent TMNT media.

Co-writer Tom Waltz shares this optimistic outlook, viewing the delay as a potential benefit. He believes that allowing more time for development, including the creation of new comic storylines like 'Training Day,' will result in a stronger final film. Waltz also noted that the current economic climate might be a factor in the delay. He emphasized that the creators are focused on controlling the quality of the ongoing comic series, ensuring the movie adaptation will be even better when it eventually moves forward.
