The festival's Déjà Vu section will prominently feature six restored Indian films. This selection marks a significant moment for India, bringing its cinematic heritage to an international audience.
The opening night will screen Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's 'Faust,' a masterpiece of German Expressionism. This silent classic will be presented with a live musical score by the progressive rock band GAF y La Estrella de la Muerte, also inaugurating the festival's Camera Obscura section. Gloria Benito, a festival programmer, emphasized the importance of preserving cinematic heritage for understanding historical memory.
