30 May
Summary
- Actor juggled EastEnders' Archie Mitchell and Gavin's dad Mick Shipman.
- Filming occurred between London and Wales during 2006 and 2007.
- Lamb felt fortunate to work on both highly contrasting programs simultaneously.

Actor Larry Lamb recently reflected on the "very weird" and "bizarre" experience of working on both EastEnders and Gavin & Stacey concurrently. He described feeling "very lucky" to have been able to juggle the roles of Archie Mitchell, Barbara Windsor's on-screen husband, and Mick Shipman, Gavin's father.
The filming for these contrasting characters took place between London and Wales. Lamb began filming early episodes of the comedy in 2006 before securing the role in the soap opera in 2007. He noted that it was unusual to be permitted to work on such disparate projects at the same time.
Lamb explained that he had signed a contract for the comedy and was then faced with a dilemma when it grew in popularity. Despite the complications, he was eventually allowed to continue with both productions, describing the situation as "very weird, contrasting" but ultimately fortunate.
