The new DC Studios series, "Lanterns," has achieved a significant global premiere, attracting 9.3 million viewers worldwide in its initial three days on HBO and HBO Max. The United States contributed a substantial 6.6 million viewers to this total, outperforming the series debuts of notable HBO shows like "IT: Welcome to Derry" and "The Penguin."
"Lanterns" also secured its position as the biggest premiere for a DC Studios show on HBO Max, surpassing "The Penguin," "Peacemaker," and "Creature Commandos." The series stars Kyle Chandler as the veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as recruit John Stewart. Their first adventure takes them to Nebraska to investigate a mysterious mass shooting.
The series was co-created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with Mundy serving as showrunner. James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-heads of DC Studios, are executive producers alongside the creative team and director James Hawes.
