- Kent has been sober since 2018 following her father's death.

Lala Kent has openly shared her experiences with sobriety, a stance that has reportedly caused friction with some long-standing members of Alcoholics Anonymous. During a recent podcast episode, Kent, 35, indicated that she has been asked by 'old-timers' within the AA community to stop discussing the program publicly.
Kent explained that while she understands the organization's emphasis on anonymity, she has a different perspective. She believes that openly discussing the program that has been instrumental in saving her life is crucial. Kent clarifies that she respects individual anonymity and does not reveal other members' participation.
Her brother, Easton Burningham, who is also sober, supports her viewpoint. He expressed that greater openness about AA could have helped him seek assistance sooner. Kent, a familiar face from 'Vanderpump Rules,' initially achieved sobriety in 2018 following her father's passing.
In December 2018, Kent marked 60 days of sobriety, describing it as her best period in a long time and noting her attendance at AA meetings, along with having a sponsor and sober coach. By October 2023, she celebrated five years of sobriety, reflecting on her past 'rock bottom' and expressing gratitude for her recovery journey.
