The action film "Lakadbaggha 2 - The Monkey Business" is set to make its global debut at the Razor Reel Flanders Film Fest in Bruges, Belgium. This marks a significant milestone as it becomes the first Indian action franchise to achieve a World Premiere at this esteemed festival. The programming team at Razor Reel selected the film following its screening at Marché du Film at Cannes 2026, recognizing its strong action sequences, international martial arts appeal, and environmental message.
The film boasts an impressive international ensemble cast. It stars Chinese martial arts exponent Sunny Pang, known for his roles in "Headshot" and Netflix's "Havoc," alongside Thai martial arts legend Dan Chupong, famous for "Ong Bak." The Indian contingent includes acclaimed actors Adil Hussain, Sarah Jane Dias, Vikram Kochar, and Anshuman Jha, who reprises his character of Arjun Bakshi, an animal-loving vigilante.
Festival Director Patrick Van Hauwaert praised the film, drawing parallels to the classic era of martial arts cinema while emphasizing its contemporary relevance. He noted the compelling hand-to-hand combat and the urgent exposé on illegal wildlife smuggling. Director Anshuman Jha elaborated on the franchise's evolution, stating that "Lakadbaggha 2" is a love letter to the environment, with the endangered Yaki Monkey at its core. The film's unique blend of Indian vigilante themes, animal welfare, and Asian martial arts aims for a global genre space.
The sequel represents an India-Indonesia co-production, enhancing its international reach. Jha expressed hope that the film's premiere in Belgium will open new doors for Indian action cinema on the global stage. This international recognition follows the success of the first "Lakadbaggha," which premiered at the Kolkata International Film Festival and won Jha Best Actor honors at SAIFF New York in 2023.
