Released on June 15, 2001, Lagaan was written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Aamir Khan. The film boasts an ensemble cast and features music by A.R. Rahman with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Its critical success extended to international recognition, earning a nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 74th Academy Awards.
More recently, in June 2026, the cast and crew of Lagaan reunited to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary. This special occasion included a script-reading session, allowing them to revisit cherished memories from the landmark production.
