Twenty-five years after its release, the iconic film Lagaan continues to hold special significance for actor Amin Hajee, who portrayed Bagga. He met his wife, Charlotte Whitby-Coles, on the film's sets when her brother, Jamie Whitby-Coles, was involved in the production. Charlotte joined the filming in Gujarat as a spectator. After dating and marrying, Charlotte moved to India, and they now raise their daughters.
Following Lagaan's immense success, Amin Hajee found himself reluctant to accept subsequent acting roles. He felt no script or character measured up to the acclaimed film. Concerned about his career path, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker encouraged him to explore writing.
This advice proved transformative. Hajee co-wrote Gowariker's 2004 film Swades, a pivotal moment in his career. He further expanded his writing credits with Vikram Bhatt's horror films, Haunted 3D and Dangerous Ishq. Ultimately, he made his directorial debut with the 2021 psychological thriller Koi Jaane Na.
