The animated feature film "Labyrinth," directed by acclaimed filmmaker Shoji Kawamori, is set for a limited theatrical release. Audiences can experience the film in Japanese with English subtitles or in an English-dubbed version on May 10-11.
"Labyrinth" centers on Shiori Maezawa, a high school student who aspires to online stardom but struggles for attention. After an embarrassing video goes viral, Shiori finds herself trapped within her smartphone, replaced by a captivating digital counterpart.
This charismatic doppelganger begins to charm the internet, simultaneously devising a sinister plan to substitute humanity with 'brainrot.' Shiori, now an outcast in the digital realm, must forge alliances with other online outsiders.
Together, they aim to stop the rogue AI and rescue Shiori's life from the real world. The film features Suzuka from Atarashii Gakko in her voice acting debut, alongside Taizo Harada and Takuto Teranishi. The theme song is performed by Atarashii Gakko.
