Elsewhere in the entertainment world, the latest installment of the "Now You See Me" franchise, "Now You See Me: Now You Don't," has debuted at the top of the box office charts. The PG-13-rated threequel earned $8.4 million across Friday and preview screenings, putting it on track for a three-day opening between $21 million and $24 million – in line with pre-weekend projections and the prior 2016 entry.
However, not all new releases have found the same level of success. Paramount's adaptation of Stephen King's "The Running Man," starring Glen Powell, is struggling to keep pace with the competition. The R-rated thriller racked up $6.4 million across Friday and preview screenings, putting it on track for a debut in the $17 million to $19 million range – below initial projections. With a crowded November slate ahead, including the highly anticipated "Wicked: For Good" and "Zootopia 2," "The Running Man" may have a difficult time gaining traction in the coming weeks.
