- Experts say this behavior aligns with Labrador breed instincts.
A Labrador retriever named Murphy is capturing hearts online with his peculiar passion for water. Murphy has developed a habit of approaching building supervisors in New York City, not for pets, but for a drink from their hoses.
His owner, Meg, documented this endearing quirk in a video that quickly went viral on TikTok. The footage shows Murphy approaching a super with a hose, who then kindly obliges by turning it on for the dog to drink.
Canine experts explain that Murphy's behavior is perfectly natural for a Labrador. The breed originates from water dogs bred in Newfoundland to aid fishermen in cold Atlantic waters. Their physical traits, such as webbed feet and a powerful tail, are specifically adapted for swimming.
