Eighty-year-old British folk musician Labi Siffre is making a significant return to music with his first new album in 28 years. Titled "Unfinished Business," the collection is slated for release later this year.
Siffre has unveiled a new single, "Far Away," a soulful piano ballad accompanied by a music video. This marks a return after a career characterized by periods of intense output, such as his six albums in the 1970s, followed by retirement and brief reappearances in the 1980s and 1990s. His last full-length releases were in 1998.
While "Far Away" was featured in a 2022 BBC documentary, it was never officially released until now. Siffre also recently performed live in the BBC Radio 2 Piano room, featuring orchestral renditions of his songs.
A surge of renewed interest, partly due to music licensing in films and the launch of official social media channels in 2024, seems to have paved the way for this comeback.
