The 2026 L.A. Area Emmy Awards celebrated excellence in local broadcasting, with PBS SoCal emerging as the dominant winner, securing eight statuettes. These included awards for live events, programming, entertainment, crime, social issues, and the arts. Univision's KMEX followed closely with seven awards, and Telemundo's KVEA garnered six.
Telemundo's KVEA once again earned newscast Emmys for daily daytime and evening broadcasts. However, the regularly scheduled daily morning newscast Emmy went to KABC/ABC7. The ceremony, held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, also saw KABC's David Ono recognized with the Governors Award for over three decades of broadcasting and dedicated storytelling.
Other notable recipients included KABC/ABC7 with four awards, and KNBC/NBC4, also with four. Spectrum News 1 and Spectrum SportsNet each received two awards. The eligibility period for the awards covered the 2025 calendar year, with many news categories featuring winners that focused on the significant wildfires that impacted the region in January 2025.
