6 May
Summary
- KVIFF launches new book-to-screen program and rebrands market.
- Industry program now includes Cinematic Focus and Screen Focus strands.
- Global Media Makers Residency supports producers from Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) is significantly expanding its industry program for its upcoming 60th edition, shifting from a regional to a global focus. This strategic enhancement aims to better serve audiovisual professionals in Central Europe and beyond.
Key innovations include the introduction of a 'Book-to-Screen' program, developed in collaboration with literary organizations, which will present up to 10 regional book titles suitable for film and series adaptations to producers. This initiative seeks to foster a market for literary adaptation rights in Central and Eastern Europe.
The festival's works-in-progress market, formerly KVIFF Eastern Promises, has been renamed KVIFF Promises and now embraces projects globally. Alongside this, KVIFF Industry Days will host the Global Media Makers Residency, a U.S. Department of State program, designed to support independent producers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Further enriching the industry offerings, the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA) will present its Semiramis Award for Excellence in Casting and host masterclasses. KVIFF Industry Days are scheduled from Sunday, July 5 to Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with the ICDA event on Thursday, July 9.
