On October 8th, 2025, Broadway audiences will get a first look at the highly anticipated new musical "The Queen of Versailles." The production, now in previews at the Broadway Theatre in New York City, is set to officially open on November 9th.
The musical stars Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth in the lead role, portraying socialite Jackie Siegel and her husband David's ambitious plan to build the largest private home in America, modeled after the Palace of Versailles. As the 2008 recession threatens to derail their $100 million dream, the family's glittering vision begins to fracture, exposing the true costs of fame and excess.
The musical is adapted from the award-winning 2012 documentary of the same name, with a book by Lindsey Ferrentino. It also reunites Chenoweth with acclaimed composer Stephen Schwartz, known for his work on beloved Broadway shows like "Wicked," "Pippin," and "Godspell." Schwartz has contributed both music and lyrics to the production.
Under the direction of Tony winner Michael Arden, "The Queen of Versailles" promises to be a lavish, larger-than-life theatrical experience for Broadway audiences this fall.
