The 2025 Thessaloniki International Film Festival, running from October 30th to November 9th, will feature Kristen Stewart's directorial debut, 'The Chronology of Water', as part of its Film Forward competition. The Film Forward section is dedicated to "boundary-breaking" feature films.
'The Chronology of Water', which premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival, is based on Lidia Yuknavitch's memoir. The film stars Imogen Poots as Yuknavitch, chronicling her journey from an abusive childhood to finding her voice through writing, with detours into competitive swimming, sexual experimentation, toxic relationships, and addiction.
The Thessaloniki Film Festival jury, composed of choreographer Constanza Macras, filmmaker Christos Massalas, and film programmer Valeria Wagner, will award the Golden Alexander for Best Feature Film, worth 8,000 euros, and the Silver Alexander for Best Direction, worth 4,000 euros. 'The Chronology of Water' will be competing against 11 other boundary-pushing films for these prestigious prizes.
