Initially developed by Aspyr Media, the project faced pauses before being transferred to Saber Interactive in August 2022. Sources now indicate that development at Saber has been 'ramping up' and proceeding 'extremely smoothly' since they began the project from scratch in 2023.
The game's chief creative officer confirmed it remains in development. Insiders suggest a mid-to-late 2027 release as a best-case scenario, though a 2028 launch window is also plausible, aligning with the original game's 25th anniversary.
