Summary
- Korean and Sakha filmmakers signed an MOU for co-productions.
- The agreement aims for professional exchange and financing collaboration.
- Partnership seeks to boost Sakha films on international markets.

A significant memorandum of understanding has been established between the Producers Guild of Korea (PGK) and the Sakha Filmmakers Association (SFA). This agreement is designed to create a direct route for international co-productions and foster professional exchange between Korean and Sakha screen production sectors.
The Sakha Republic, known for its thriving film industry, primarily produces films in the Sakha (Yakut) language. The partnership aims to develop joint projects, share insights into public financing opportunities in both regions, and facilitate producer-to-producer meetings.
This collaboration will extend to major international film markets. Events like the Asian Contents & Film Market, Hong Kong Filmart, and the Cannes Marché du Film will host showcases and B2B sessions. The goal is to identify projects with international appeal and promote Sakha cinema to a wider audience.
For the PGK, this MOU continues its strategy of building international partnerships. The SFA views this as an opportunity for Sakha filmmakers to directly engage with the Korean industry, promoting mutual development and lasting connections.
