To commemorate International Museum Day on May 18, Kolkata's Indian Museum and Victoria Memorial Hall are jointly presenting a remarkable exhibition titled 'Namami Bharatam: Many Forms, One Truth.' This dual-site event aims to highlight India's profound civilizational identity and intellectual heritage through rare manuscripts and artifacts.
The ancient Indian Museum will focus on the foundational philosophical aspects, displaying representations of deities like Siva and Ardhanarisvara, alongside significant artworks and Buddhist legacy artifacts. Concurrently, Victoria Memorial Hall will trace these narratives into the modern era, featuring works by renowned artists such as Raja Ravi Varma and Jamini Roy.
A special pavilion, 'Gyan-Lipi-Grantha: The Written Soul of Bharat,' will exhibit precious historical manuscripts from both institutions, including folios from the 'Ramayana' and 'Bhagwat Maha Puran.' This collaboration underscores a commitment to dynamic museum spaces and aligns with the national vision of 'Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi.'
Further enriching the celebrations are multidisciplinary performances, including a tribute to India's National Song and interactive sessions for children. An MoU with Brainware University will integrate advanced technologies like AI and VR into heritage conservation. Additionally, a museum scavenger hunt, 'Jadughar: Shared Histories, Shared Futures,' is planned for school children on May 19.
