On October 30, Kolkata's public spaces were transformed into an open-air stage for Halloween artistry. Models donned elaborate costumes and dramatic make-up, captivating passers-by with a unique blend of fashion, performance, and theatrical artistry. This marks the sixth year for the annual Halloween festival, originally conceived in London.
The festival aims to showcase the creative potential of models and make-up artists outside conventional industry settings. Organiser Atmajyoti Mitra noted the event's connection to Bengali culture, inspired by Tagore's tale 'Monihara.' The theme this year, a 'politics of ghosts,' delved into supernatural narratives about spirits seeking love and acceptance.
With seven models participating, the gathering provided an experimental space for character-driven looks. It successfully brought Halloween festivities into public view, moving them from private party settings to the city streets.
