Filmmaker Karan Johar is reportedly planning a comeback for his popular chat show, Koffee With Karan, with Season 9 slated to stream on JioHotstar by the end of 2026. While the deal is not yet finalized, indications suggest a revamped format aimed at audience engagement.
The upcoming season is expected to feature shorter segments focusing on current topics. In a significant shift, the show plans to broaden its guest list to include not only Bollywood celebrities but also prominent figures from the South Indian film industry, along with popular OTT actors and digital creators. This inclusive approach has already begun in recent seasons.
Karan Johar himself has expressed a desire for change, noting the "most boring rapid fire" of the previous season and promising a "new syntax" for Season 9. The show, which first aired in 2004, previously took a four-year hiatus between its sixth and seventh seasons (2018-2022). Following its initial broadcast on Star World, it transitioned to Disney Hotstar, now JioHotstar.
On the professional front, Johar is also reportedly preparing to direct his eighth film, a large-scale family drama scheduled for release in 2026.
