Koffee With Karan Bids Farewell After 22 Years

Karan Johar's influential talk show, "Koffee With Karan," is concluding its run after 22 years. The show's ninth and final season is scheduled to begin streaming on JioHotstar on October 14.

Since its debut in 2004, "Koffee With Karan" has aired eight seasons and hosted numerous top Indian stars, delving into their personal lives and sparking viral moments. Johar expressed that while the show has been deeply rewarding, he aims to dedicate the next decade to directing more films.

The show originally premiered on Star World in 2004, featuring guests like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Amitabh Bachchan. Over the years, it transitioned to streaming platforms, with its latest seasons airing on Disney+ Hotstar before its merger into JioHotstar.

Johar described the decision as emotional and personal, hoping the show's legacy of love and candid conversations will endure. He highlighted his commitment to directing, citing his previous directorial successes. Alok Jain from JioStar acknowledged the show's extraordinary legacy and its impact on pop culture.

Past seasons have not been without controversy, such as the 2019 episode featuring cricketers Hardik Pandya and K.L. Rahul, which led to an uproar and the episode's removal from streaming services. The upcoming final season marks the end of an era for celebrity interviews in India.
