The upcoming Malayala Manorama Hortus Art and Literature Festival in Kochi promises an unforgettable musical journey from November 27 to 30 at Subhash Park. This vibrant event will showcase a diverse array of musical forms, including popular film songs, intricate Carnatic classical music, rhythmic traditional percussion, soulful Hindustani classical music, and energetic band performances.
Visitors can anticipate engaging sessions with prominent figures in the music industry. Music director Jakes Bejoy will explore the connection between life and music, while veteran filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi will share his extensive experiences. Performances by artists like Praseetha Chalakudy, Martin Oorali, and James Thakara will highlight rustic music, and Stephen Devassy and Sreevalsan J Menon will demonstrate keyboard and classical note synchronization.
The festival also includes a harmonious blend of Hindustani and Carnatic music led by Dr N J Nandini and Dr Shine Priyadarshan, a musical talk by Sanjay Subrahmanyan, and an exploration of 'navarasas' in music by Sithara Krishnakumar and Govind Vasantha. Suhail Koya and Bineetha Ranjith will discuss new-generation music, while Indian Ocean band performs. A special segment, 'Oru Swaram Mathram,' will celebrate the iconic K J Yesudas.
