Dunst revealed that Plemons took on an "intense" role as a last-minute replacement in the movie, a decision that surprised even his wife. "Nobody wants to play this role. It's very intense," Dunst told talk show host Seth Meyers in an April 2025 interview. However, Meyers noted that Plemons' ability to portray both good and bad characters on screen made him well-suited for the challenging part.
Despite their successful acting careers, Dunst's children remain largely unfamiliar with their parents' work. The actress shared that her kids, Ennis Howard (born in 2018) and James Robert (born in 2021), have yet to see many of their parents' films, including Dunst's latest project, "Roofman," which co-stars Channing Tatum.
