Kirk Hammett Channels Poe for Halloween

In a special Halloween-themed video, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett recited the concluding seven stanzas of Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, "The Raven." Hammett was dressed in a jacket adorned with a raven and a grim reaper, seated beside a skeletal figure, creating a chilling atmosphere enhanced by dramatic lighting. The musical backdrop for this recitation was "Inamorata," the closing track from Metallica's most recent album, "72 Seasons."

Beyond his music career, Hammett has cultivated a significant presence in the horror community. He is a notable collector of rare horror movie posters and previously organized a horror convention. His personal musical projects also reflect this interest, as seen in his 2022 instrumental solo album, "Portals," which drew inspiration from horror films. Hammett collaborated with composer Edwin Outwater on this album, a partnership that originated from their shared appreciation for the horror genre.

Currently, Hammett and Metallica are engaged in their "Life Burns Faster" residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. This ongoing concert series has featured visually striking, horror-movie-esque imagery, including scenes of an electric chair and a giant Lovecraftian monster during specific songs. The band has two performances scheduled at the venue this week, one of which falls on Halloween.
