King Charles has been featured in a surprise birthday tribute for David Attenborough, with a whimsical film showing animals relaying his handwritten congratulatory card. The film, 'A Very Special Delivery,' commenced with the King writing his message at Balmoral Castle.
Queen Camilla's rescue dog, Moley, was involved as the card was prepared for transport. When a fallen tree obstructed the initial vehicle, a relay of heroic animals took over. Border collies, eagles, red squirrels, geese, otters, swans, ducks, foxes, and deer all played roles.
Eventually, a barn owl named Lily delivered the well-traveled card to Attenborough's London residence. This four-minute film premiered during a gala tribute event for the renowned naturalist at the Royal Albert Hall.
The King's connection with Attenborough dates back to 1958. In his card, Charles acknowledged their more than 60-year friendship and Attenborough's significant work in revealing nature's wonders and highlighting the need for planetary protection.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed the King's delight in this tribute to a lifelong advocate for the natural world. Queen Camilla was also touched by her dog Moley's cameo appearance in the film.
