Kimmel's Daughter Eyes Late-Night Throne

Jimmy Kimmel's daughter, Jane, has aspirations to host "Jimmy Kimmel Live." The 12-year-old expressed her ambitions, even crying when the show was temporarily pulled off the air, according to Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney. Jane views taking over the program as a natural progression for the "family business."

Kimmel recounted his daughter's unwavering belief in her future role on the show. This declaration was made without any prior discussion, simply as a stated intention. Jane's strong emotional reaction underscored her perceived stake in the program's continuity.

McNearney, an executive producer on the show, also discussed Jane's future plans. Kimmel and McNearney have two younger children, Jane and her 9-year-old brother, Billy. Kimmel also has two adult children from a previous marriage.

Kimmel noted that this isn't the first time a late-night host's child has expressed similar ambitions. He shared an anecdote about John Stewart, whose son also expressed a desire to take over "The Daily Show" during its earlier run.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" has been airing since January 2003. During Kimmel's summer hiatus in 2026, guest hosts such as Anthony Anderson, Jelly Roll, and Rosie O'Donnell have filled in. O'Donnell notably sent a message to Donald Trump during her hosting segment. Kimmel is expected to return after his break.
