Acclaimed designer Kim Jones is embarking on a new venture, launching his own namesake fashion collection. Jones, who previously helmed menswear at Louis Vuitton and womenswear at Fendi and Dior, announced the creation of his independent line on Monday. He expressed a desire to explore new creative territory, stating, "I wanted to look at something new." His departure from Dior in January 2025, amid leadership speculation, paved the way for this independent path.

The launch of his namesake line, with the first collection anticipated in mid-2027, follows a trend of prominent designers choosing to establish their own brands. Jones joins contemporaries such as Phoebe Philo, who launched her independent label in 2021, and Francesco Risso, who introduced his creative hub after leaving Marni. This independent route also mirrors Tom Ford's successful journey after transformative roles at Gucci and Saint Laurent.
