PlayStation's once-prominent shooter franchise, Killzone, is reportedly being revived. Guerrilla Games is said to be working with an external studio on a remake or remaster of the original Killzone game. This project is currently in the early stages of development.
The Killzone series, which debuted in 2004, saw six installments released across various PlayStation consoles over nine years. However, the franchise has remained dormant since 2013, when Killzone: Shadow Fall launched alongside the PlayStation 4.
This hiatus coincided with Guerrilla Games' decision to pivot its focus to the critically acclaimed Horizon series. Studio leadership has previously expressed a continued fondness for the Killzone universe, not ruling out a future return for the franchise.
