Rich People's Rituals: Horror-Comedy Unleashes Bloody Mayhem

A new action-horror-comedy, "They Will Kill You," plunges into the dark world of Manhattan's elite. The film centers on Asia, a maid who is secretly an avenger targeting the building's Satan-worshipping tenants. These wealthy residents ritualistically kill their marginalized staff, providing a grim backdrop for the film's gonzo-style violence.

Asia's mission is to rescue her sister, Maria, another maid at the exclusive Virgil apartments. Armed with an impressive array of weapons and honed combat skills from prison brawls, Asia must ascend the building's nine floors, each themed after a deadly sin, to escape. The plot draws parallels to "Ready or Not 2," featuring ordinary women targeted by one percent sociopaths.

Director Kirill Sokolov employs a frenetic, stylish melee, drawing influences from video games, anime, and iconic action films. The film revels in extreme gore and creative weaponry, escalating violence to a darkly comedic level. Despite its high-octane action and a swift 94-minute runtime, "They Will Kill You" underutilizes its thematic potential, opting for relentless mayhem over deeper social commentary or character development.
