Khushi Kapoor and Karishma Tanna Bring Emotional Depth to 'Mom 2' Sequel

Excitement is building around the upcoming sequel to the 2017 crime drama 'Mom'. Leaked photographs from a recent outdoor shoot in Mumbai have fueled anticipation for 'Mom 2', which is now in production.

The original film, led by the late Sridevi, received widespread acclaim for its emotional storytelling and impactful performances. Now, the sequel is being directed by Girish Kohli, who was one of the key writers of the first installment and crafted its screenplay and dialogues.

The first set of images from the 'Mom 2' shoot show actors and crew members working on a location shoot under tight security. The environment suggests that a key sequence is being filmed in real surroundings, keeping in line with the grounded tone that defined the first movie.

Another picture captures an actress dressed in a light traditional outfit walking towards a vanity van, with the expressions and overall mood suggesting an emotionally heavy or narratively significant scene. According to reports, the filming began in Mumbai shortly after Diwali, on October 26, 2025, and around ten days of shooting have already been completed.

Producer Boney Kapoor has entrusted Girish Kohli with the sequel, believing that he understands the world and emotional depth of 'Mom' better than anyone else. During the 25th IIFA Awards 2025 in Jaipur, Kapoor had earlier confirmed that he was working on a film with the young star leading 'Mom 2' and expressed hope that the next generation in his family would continue Sridevi's legacy with dedication and skill.
