Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has confirmed he will not direct the much-anticipated sequel, Khalnayak Returns. At the age of 80, Ghai expressed a reluctance to remake his own work, stating, "I don't want to remake my own film; besides, I am 80 now." He remains closely tied to the project, however, taking on the role of creative producer.
Actor Sanjay Dutt, who announced the sequel last week, is driving the project forward. Ghai suggested Dutt produce it himself, believing he will find the right director soon. Ghai's involvement stems from Dutt's long-standing passion for the film, even a concept he developed during his jail time. Ghai also plans to appear in a cameo role to support Dutt, whom he regards as a son.
