Summary
- Song 'Move On' blends modern folk-country with classic separation themes.
- Co-writing sessions in Nashville and California shaped the song's evolution.
- Shaboozey's spontaneous verse added a crucial emotional layer.

Kevin Powers' song "Move On" offers a modern interpretation of the enduring country music narrative of separation. The track, featuring Shaboozey, merges folk-country elements with a fresh acoustic style.
Co-written in June 2025 by Powers, Alex Cabrera, and David Ray, the song's core concept emerged from the phrase "Who taught you how to move on." Initial writing sessions in Nashville established the chorus and first verse.
Later, Powers relocated to California, collaborating with writer-producer Sean Cook and Whit Kane. They refined the song, introducing a simpler chord progression and inviting Shaboozey to contribute. Shaboozey spontaneously freestyled a verse detailing the male protagonist's emotional pain.
The song's bridge, with its unusual, dipping melody, became a favorite part for Powers. Gang vocals were added to create a sonic contrast with the lyrical themes of loneliness.
"Move On" was released in September, with Shaboozey signing Powers to his label. It entered Billboard's Country Airplay chart in March 2026.
