Kevin Bacon has been tapped to star in Hulu's drama pilot, Southern Bastards, a project based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Jason Aaron and Jason LaTour. The pilot is being developed by Disney's Onyx Collective, POV Entertainment, and Ryan Coogler's Proximity Media.
Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, Southern Bastards will follow a tenacious military veteran as she journeys to Craw County, Alabama. Her search for her estranged father leads her to uncover a dangerous organized crime operation. This operation is reportedly run by the most successful high school football coach in the South.
Bacon will portray Earl, the son of Craw County's formidable former Sheriff Bert. Earl, a humble but tough Army veteran, seeks to mend ties with his estranged daughter and is unafraid to challenge the status quo in his hometown. The pilot's story is credited to Bill Dubuque and Nia DaCosta, with Dubuque penning the teleplay. Matt Olmstead is set to serve as showrunner.
