The Kering Foundation's annual Caring for Women Dinner, held this past Thursday at The Pool in New York City, successfully raised more than $5 million. The funds are dedicated to supporting four organizations committed to ending violence against women and children.
Celebrities such as Colman Domingo, who served as master of ceremonies, Simone Biles, Dakota Johnson, and Pamela Anderson were in attendance. Domingo emphasized the importance of male allyship in supporting women, stating, "Men should be locking arms to make sure women have what they need." Benicio Del Toro, attending for the first time, highlighted the urgency of addressing gender-based violence.
The four beneficiary organizations include Activating Change, Fondo Semillas, JBWS, and The New York Women's Foundation. These groups work on issues ranging from advocating for incarcerated individuals to promoting justice and equality for girls, women, and the trans community, and supporting victims of domestic abuse.
This year's fundraising efforts were bolstered by a live auction featuring exclusive items and experiences from Kering brands. For the first time, an online auction was also launched on September 14, featuring items like a vintage Boucheron brooch and a signed leotard from Simone Biles, extending the fundraising reach beyond the event itself.
Guests, including Paris Hilton and Kering CEO Luca De Meo, showcased fashion from Kering's luxury brands, such as Gucci, Balenciaga, and Bottega Veneta. Colman Domingo highlighted the narrative power of fashion, stating, "I've always believed in storytelling in the things I wear, while also having some fun."
