The Kentucky Derby is offering an elevated Mint Julep experience this year, with exclusive charity cups available for purchase. As part of a program by Woodford Reserve, guests can acquire cups for $2,000 or $5,000, with all net proceeds designated for Closely Crafted.
This initiative honors the 152nd Kentucky Derby and the United States' 250th anniversary. One hundred fifty-two unique cups were handcrafted by jeweler Graham Newton. Seventy-six cups are polished pewter at $2,000, and the remaining 76 are gold-plated sterling silver for $5,000. Both include sterling silver straws.
The $5,000 experience features patriotic garnishes like red roses and blue/white flowers. The drink's simple syrup incorporates maple syrup, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg, inspired by early American sweeteners and spices.
