A landlord has filed a lawsuit against Saturday Night Live comedian Kenan Thompson, seeking over $34,390 in damages. The suit alleges Thompson terminated a year-long lease for a Los Angeles property before its completion, failing to meet his obligations.
The lease, which began on October 1, 2025, stipulated monthly rent of $10,250. The landlord claims Thompson agreed through his counsel in December to terminate the lease, allowing re-leasing, but this preserved the landlord's right to seek damages.
Thompson allegedly owes $17,425 for past rent and an additional $15,750 for the rent differential with a new tenant. The total sought includes late fees and legal costs, minus his security deposit.
However, sources close to Thompson dispute the claims, characterizing the situation as a contractual dispute. They assert that Thompson never received the property keys and never physically occupied the unit.
