Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa marked their 30th wedding anniversary on Friday's "Live with Kelly and Mark" episode, reminiscing about their enduring relationship.
The couple, who first met as young actors on "All My Children," spontaneously wed in Las Vegas on May 1, 1996. Consuelos, 55, and Ripa, 55, expressed their joy, with Ripa calling their marriage "the best thing I've ever done."
They admitted their long-lasting union was an unlikely outcome, joking about meeting on a soap opera. However, they both felt their connection was "destined" from the start.
Consuelos recalled that marriage wasn't on his radar until he proposed, a sentiment Ripa echoed, calling the idea "ludicrous" until he asked her.
Three decades later, they describe their marriage as "one big adventure," with Ripa playfully noting that "every day is our anniversary."
For their 30th anniversary, the traditional gift is pearls. Consuelos had already gifted Ripa a strand of pearls in October for her birthday, which she had wanted for 20 years.
Ripa also quipped that she wouldn't refuse the modern 30th-anniversary gift of diamonds. The couple shares their anniversary date with other famous couples, including Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
