During his celebratory awards season run, Quan recalled an encounter detailed in his memoir, Never Say Die. An unnamed fellow actor disparaged Quan's joyful facial expression when he requested a photograph, predicting it would prevent him from winning.
Despite this negative interaction, Quan went on to accept his award, proving the critic wrong. He used the win to highlight the changing landscape of representation in Hollywood and encouraged those waiting to be seen. His memoir, Never Say Die, is now available.
