Kathy Griffin, the 64-year-old comedian, has had a tumultuous few years, but she's using her experiences to fuel her latest comedy special. In January 2023, Griffin finalized her divorce from a marketing executive after three years of marriage, a process she says "took me out" and was "harder than cancer."
Two years prior to her divorce, Griffin was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer. During surgery to remove half of her left lung, an intubation tube permanently paralyzed her left vocal cord, forcing her to undergo additional vocal cord surgery to regain her voice.
In addition to her divorce and cancer battle, Griffin also opens up about a pill addiction and a suicide attempt in the eight years since the firestorm of controversy that followed her infamous 2017 photoshoot depicting President Donald Trump's severed head. Despite these challenges, Griffin has found the humor in her experiences, saying, "There's comedy in everything."
As Griffin looks ahead to her 65th birthday on November 4th, she's excited to officially become a senior citizen and plans to "blame everything on my age" in a "fake English accent." With her new comedy tour, "New Face, New Tour," kicking off on November 8th in Las Vegas, Griffin is ready to share her story and connect with audiences in a meaningful way.
