The "Grey's Anatomy" star and her husband, musician Josh Kelley, originally purchased the land in 2007 for $1 million and constructed the 8,352-square-foot residence in 2008. They transitioned to living in Utah full-time in 2012 and are now seeking to downsize their living space.

Additionally, a detached structure on the property, previously used as an art studio, offers versatility as a guest suite, gym, or home office. Heigl expressed that the decision to sell has been difficult, acknowledging her fondness for being a homebody. However, she and Kelley recognized that with their children grown, the large property on extensive land felt too substantial for just the two of them.
